aCTa designed this re-construction behind a listed façade of a micro terrace house in the Prime Central London area of Holland Park.

At 75 m2 -3 floors of 25 m2 per floor - this represents the smallest project undertaken by aCTa.

The key to maximising usable space was to minimise circulation, in this case stairs and halls, and then use the space under and around the stairs effectively.

On entry, a new stair leads straight up to first floor. A micro kitchen sits beneath that stair behind sliding doors.

At first floor, an ensuite shower room, seperable  guest toilet and laundry cupboard are tucked beneath the stair to 2nd floor.   Using these measures usable space increased from 41 m2 to 61m2- an improvement of 50% efficiency.

Total construction cost US$300/ft2.
