Alexandra House, Hong Kong
Stephen was Design Director for the redevelopment of the podium of Alexandra House as Prada’s flagship Asian store in the Centre of Hong Kong’s financial district.
His concept was to wrap the previously ugly façade of the podium in warm limestone punctuated with 2 huge windows which would permit sightlines through the building thus promoting footfall, the lifeblood of retail.
The limestone continued to the interior and was offset with warm pear wood , backlit white glass and stainless steel.
The most complicated aspect of the project was implementation as work was carried out whilst the existing office in the tower above was continually in use throughout the construction period.
